From Plate to Fridge: The Magic Behind Our Food-Themed Magnets

From Plate to Fridge: The Magic Behind Our Food-Themed Magnets

There’s something deeply nostalgic about Indian food.

It’s not just about taste. It’s about memory. A plate of vada pav takes you back to rainy Mumbai streets. A humble idli reminds you of Sunday mornings at home. A kulfi stick brings flashes of summer breaks and sticky fingers. And now, at Khasiyat, we’re bottling that nostalgia not in jars, but in handcrafted fridge magnets that bring your plate to your fridge.

Yes, you heard it right. From plate to fridge is the story of how we turn iconic Indian foods into tiny pieces of art that spark joy, memory, and a whole lot of “OMG, I love this!”

Why Food? Why Now?

When I first started designing for Khasiyat, I knew I didn’t want to make just another set of decorative magnets. I wanted to create conversations. And what better conversation starter than food?

Food is deeply cultural, incredibly visual, and universally emotional. Whether you're a street food junkie or a homesick college student, we all have “that one dish” that takes us back.

So we asked ourselves a simple question. What if your fridge could reflect your flavor?
That’s when our signature line was born: India on a Fridge.

Behind the Scenes: How a Dish Becomes a Magnet

Turning a dosa into a fridge magnet isn’t as simple as shrinking it down. (Though we wish it were!)

Here’s how the process works:

1. The Dish That Made the Cut

We begin by selecting iconic foods from different Indian states. Think vada pav from Maharashtra, idli-sambar from Tamil Nadu, chole bhature from Punjab, and more. We study their ingredients, textures, colors, and even their personality.

2. Sketching the Soul of the Snack

Our in-house artists and artisan collaborators then sketch the dish. Not just photorealistically, but with a twist of art. We exaggerate the sizzle, the steam, and the textures to make sure it’s fun, quirky, and still unmistakably desi.

3. Sustainable Packaging with a Personal Touch

Before shipping, we add a card sharing the backstory of the dish, the region it represents, and a thank-you note from the artisan who made it. Because it’s not just art, it’s culture on a canvas.

Why People Are Obsessed with Food-Themed Fridge Magnets

Let’s be honest. Fridge magnets have long been reduced to souvenir afterthoughts. But what if they could actually reflect you?

Our customers tell us:

  • “It reminds me of my childhood memories”

  • “I gifted a pani puri magnet to my friend who left for Canada. She cried.”

  • “My kids use them to learn about regional foods!”

These magnets do more than decorate. They:

  • Celebrate your identity

  • Start conversations

  • Support homegrown artisans

  • Make your fridge a canvas of culture
